Often charms and charm bracelets are seen as the more traditional large linked chain style bracelets in which individual charms attach and dangle and move below the chain. These are certainly beautiful in their style and the musical sound of the charms is one of the added benefits of these types of designs. However there is another type of charm bracelet with a completely different style of charms that is really becoming popular.
Italian charms and Italian charm bracelets are very different than what traditional charm bracelets look like. These bracelets are made of a stretch type of corded material to which flat, very tiny tile like plates are clipped. Typically the bracelets will come without charms but rather with the flat, polished silver or gold tiles.
It is then up to each individual wearer to simply pop on or pop off the flat, polished links for links that are the individual charms. This is a simple process that doesn\’t require any special tools, but does mean that your bracelet is constantly changing and you add new charms.
One of the most obvious benefits to this type of easy change charm system is that your charms can be customized to match your outfit, where you are going or even who you are going to be seeing. The bracelet can be sporty, elegant, sophisticate or playful depending on your mood and what charms you choose for that particular day.
Most of the Italian charm bracelets come in standard sizes of 17,18 or 19 charm lengths. For those that want to wear more charms these bracelets also lend themselves to being stacked on the wrist, which is a very trendy way to wear jewelry. The versatility of these type of bracelet also means it can be matched with other bracelets to provide a more eclectic look.
The range of tiles or charms to add to your bracelet is at least as large as those on traditional charm bracelets. In some respects the charms are easier to match since you don\’t have to worry about what the individual already has on the bracelet since they can be easily moved about and added or subtracted as needed.
Popular charms for the Italian style bracelets include signs of the zodiac, graduation charms, initials and lucky numbers, special occasion charms for birthdays, christenings, weddings and anniversaries as well as flags, animals and even landmarks.
Many of the charms found on Italian style charm bracelets will be silver or gold background with gold designs and bright colors such as reds, blues, greens and rich colors such as black. Small gemstones are also a popular addition to any of the charms and really add that touch of dazzle.
