Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 Mobile Phone Review – Catering for the Facebook generation
June 30, 2010 by tecethan · Leave a Comment
The collaboration between Vodafone and Samsung, two absolute giants in the telephony world, created quite a stir when it was announced, but is the result the success that a combination of some of the industries greatest minds should produce, or has it gone too far?
Looks:
Before we talk about what it looks like, a little about what to expect; any phone with an all new interface presents a few problems, and with this Linux based operating system there is much to get used to. That shouldn’t put off those who are interested in the new, however, and there is much to like here.
It’s by far not the best looking phone on the market, but nor is it the worst. In fact it has some interesting quirks, and being designed with social networking as its primary objective it is no surprise it looks a little different from the norm. Sleek, of not small at 135g, the big three and a half inch screen is the focal point – and it looks the part. The phone also exudes quality – there is nothing cheap looking, or feeling, about the case and it is very stylish, and the usual three main buttons sit neatly at the foot of the handset.
The way the interface works is key to this phone – the thinking is to focus on your contacts rather than the features that the phone has to offer. This is both a clever move and an irritating one; those who want a phone dedicated to keeping in touch will love it, while those looking for a conventional handset will take ages settling down with it. There is, however, a way of bringing the most frequently used icons to the fore – something that is very useful indeed.
The screen, while responsive, lacks the superfast touch of some rivals and may not be as acceptable to many who are looking for quick fire use. However, this is a phone with a different conceptual outlook, and one that may just be very inspirational indeed.
Sound:
While not breaking new ground the sound system, with its very welcome 3.5mm jack, is perfectly decent. With a variety of formats to choose from and an FM radio there is not much to say other than that it offers decent sound quality for music, calls and using the speakerphone.
Camera:
A five megapixel camera offers good photo capability, and with its LED light is a cut above some comparable models. Designed, clearly, for sending snaps between those who are in touch this is a perfectly good system that is fun to use and easy to, and has surprisingly good video capability into the bargain – a good effort by all concerned in this respect.
Connectivity:
This is a winner where connectivity is concerned, and being dedicated to on the move constant contact that is no surprise. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G HSDPA, GPS and USB, plus SMS, MMS and email are here to begin with, and add in access to many of the social networking sites as standard features and you have an excellent set up. Filters for contacts and a host of superb features make it even more attractive, especially to the target audience – the young up and coming user.
Memory and Battery:
The claimed ten hours of talk time is very impressive for a phone that carries such a big screen and so much in the way of functions, and with a massive 16GB of memory and microSD there is so much memory here you can’t possibly want more.
Conclusion:
An interesting idea that could have fallen at the first hurdle, the 360/H1 is instead a success, a great phone that takes a neat idea and makes it work. Consider getting deals on mobile contracts as they offer good discounts and you can return them or cancel them if you don’t like it, try the Vodafone 360 Samsung H1 and see if it works for you. Be warned that if you are a long time user of more standard concept handsets there is much here to learn.
Sony Ericsson Elm Mobile Phone

I guess it would be fair to say that we really like the idea and the sound of the Sony Ericsson Elm. It is defiantly a different concept and it makes us happy that a large company like Sony Ericsson is willing to take a risk that might very well be rejected the consumers. We really appreciate what Sony Ericsson has done, they not only produced a “green” phone but one that has some impressive features as well. They took a risk and we applaud them for that.
The Sony Ericsson Elm is the newest addition to what is known as the GreenHeart family. The GreenHeart line is environmentally conscious line of mobiles. The Sony Ericsson Elm is due to arrive on the selves in the beginning of this year. If it hasn’t arrived already.
This device is what they call a “candybar “ shape, it is neat and attractive and is available in two colors schemes, Metal Black and Pearly Rose. The phone has a human curvature design and although this shape may be unusual, the weight is perfectly balanced and the phone is ergonomically pleasing.
The camera of the Elm is an impressive 5 megapixel camera that has auto focus, smile detection, LED flash and other features. So if you love taking photos of friends and family you will be more then satisfied. We really can’t give our opinion on the quality of the photos taken by the Elm since there are not many samples available of the pictures taken.
The video recorder of the Elm has the ability to record VGA videos at a rate of 30 frames per second, so the phone is also very impressive in this department.
The Sony Ericsson Elm has astounding multimedia abilities. Just like the other members of the GreenHeart family, the Elm has an enriched flash Media Center. This media center seems to be top of the line with many prospects that make it well worth waiting for. This mobilephone is a good phone to get if you like helping mother nature; it also has affordable mobile phone deals that you can take advantage.
HTC Desire- Desirable or Not?
June 8, 2010 by tecethan · Leave a Comment
This mobile was definitely named right. The HTC Desire is the most desirable touch screen on the market today. This mobile phone seems to have it all. It’s efficient, powerful and is beautifully designed.
This device comes with a 3.7 inch WVGA touch screen with an AMOLED display which is the newest breakthrough in LED screens. You can really enjoy the color clarity and the picture quality with the resolution of 480×800. So viewing your streaming videos or surfing the web will be a pleasure.
If you enjoy taking photos of friends and relatives then you’ll be very pleased with the Desire’s 5 megapixel camera. This camera will give your snapshots and videos high quality images. The camera also comes with a load of extra features like, flash, auto focus, face detection, and geo tagging.
The operating system on the HTC Desire is the Android 2.1. You also get HTC Sense and the combination of these two means that your applications run smooth and effectively and will allow you to really do some multi-tasking. You will be able to run multiple applications with ease.
The Desire also has a lot to offer when it comes to multi-media. This mobile supports a variety of formats that will allow you to download music or videos from the internet; you can play streaming video, view your photos, play your favorite tunes and even listen to your favorite radio station on the built-in FM radio.
For those who love social networking, the Desire gives you access to many social networks wherever you are. So you are always connected to family and friends.
The HTC Desire has an awesome address book. It will gather your contacts and photos from Facebook, Gmail, Flickr and Outlook.
Some other great features of this device are the internal GPS antenna, Google maps and HTC Footprints. With this fantastic trio, you can explore new areas or find the quickest and fastest route to your destination. Just think about it…you’ll never get lost again!
The Desire doesn’t hold back in the power area either. It has a processing speed of 1GHz, 576 MB RAM and 512 MB ROM. At one time this was unheard of for a mobile phone. So you can be assured that even the most demanding apps will run smoothly on this phone.
The things we liked about the Desire are; it’s light weight, the talk time of 400 minutes, the stand by time of 340 hours, the memory expansion slot and the awesome camera.
The only thing that we were disappointed about was the lack of Bluetooth.
As you can clearly see, the HTC Desire does not disappoint on power, reliability, functionality or efficiency. So…is this phone perfect? Well, the only thing about this phone that isn’t perfect is its looks. It’s really not as sleek and sophisticated looking as the Legend or the Android. We found it to be a little chunky and a little geeky looking. Aside from that, we love everything else about the Desire. The HTC Desire is a good phone to have and with today’s tv mobilephone price, you won’t regret getting this phone.
